Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is a young hotshot, rookie race car getting his kicks on Route 66 on a cross country road trip. Destination: the Piston Cup Championship in California, where he will strut his speedy stuff against the seasoned pros. His plans are derailed when - while speeding, of course - he crashes into the blink-and-you'll-miss-it town of Radiator Springs, causing quite a bit of damage. The cocky McQueen wants nothing more than to be on his way; however, he is sentenced to community service to pay for his recklessness. While doing his time, Lightning gets to know some of the town's inhabitants who also happen to be cars. Sally (Bonnie Hunt) is a flashy, late-model Porsche; Doc Hudson (Paul Newman) is a 1951 Hornet with a shadowy past; the rusty-trusty Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) is a vintage tow truck. Lightning's new friends help him understand that life is about the journey, not the finish line.
