Spunky
16-year-old Katy McLaughlin (Alison Lohman) attempts to tame a spunky young
mustang she names Flicka in order to prove to her father (Tim McGraw) that she
has what it takes to one day run the family ranch in
Wyoming
.Dad insists that Katy go to
college.But Katy and Flicka share
the aforementioned spunkiness, as well as disdain for authority, and she
determines to tame the young mare. Katy
discovers that turning a wild mustang into a riding horse is a formidable task,
but she perseveres.Katy’s father
rewards her for a job well done by promptly selling the now beloved Flicka,
thereby ensuring Katy’s need for future therapy.In the meantime, Katy concocts a risky plan to win Flicka back by
entering a wild-mustang contest.The
film is based on a Mary O’Hara novel and also features Maria Bello, Ryan
Kwanten, Dallas Roberts, Nick Searcy, John O’Brien, Wade Williams, Danny Pino,
Dey Young, and Kaylee DeFer.
