Marks Fifth Year in a Row That a Super Bowl-Winning Quarterback Has
Appeared on the CBS Late Night Broadcast Following the Big Game
Ben Roethlisberger, quarterback of Super Bowl XLIII champions the Pittsburgh
Steelers, talks about his team's exciting victory Sunday when he
visits the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, Monday, Feb. 2.
The Steelers led 20-to-7 through the fourth quarter, only to see the Arizona
Cardinals stage a remarkable comeback and take the lead 23-to-20 with
only 2:37 minutes remaining in the game. But Roethlisberger responded,
throwing the ball to Santonio Holmes, who made a thrilling catch in the
corner of the end zone with only 35 seconds on the clock, lifting the
Steelers 27-to-23 over the Cardinals and giving them their second Super
Bowl win in four seasons. The Steelers are now the only team in NFL
history to win six Super Bowl titles.
This will be Roethlisberger's third visit to the LATE SHOW. He last
visited the broadcast on Feb. 2, 2006, after he and the Steelers won Super
Bowl XL. Also, this marks the fifth year in a row that a Super
Bowl-winning quarterback has appeared on the CBS late night broadcast
following the big game.
Pittsburgh Steelers and Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes will hit the
couch at NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (Monday -
Friday, 11:35 p.m. - 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC) to discuss his game-winning
touchdown catch on Thursday, February 5.
In one of the most thrilling finishes to a Super Bowl, Holmes lifted
the Steelers to their sixth NFL title win last Sunday. With only 35
seconds left on the clock, Holmes snagged a 6-yard touchdown catch deep in
the right corner of the end zone finalizing the 27-23 Steelers victory
over the Arizona Cardinals.
