CTV British Columbia Delivers Extensive Coverage of the Countdown to
the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games
-Viewers are encouraged to become a guest CTV Sports Anchor by coming
down to the Richmond Olympic Oval on Saturday, February 14 and Sunday,
February 15-

(February 9, 2009) - This Thursday, February 12 marks the
one-year countdown to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and CTV,
Canada's Olympic Network, celebrates this monumental occasion with
extensive multi-platform coverage. From February 9th to February 15th, CTV
British Columbia delivers a complete and comprehensive look at how
Vancouver and Whistler are preparing for the Games, leading up to the
highly anticipated Opening Ceremony at BC Place on February 12, 2010.
This week, CTV British Columbia will also unveil the first of its eight
commemorative CTV Olympic Pins. These limited edition, must-have pins will
be handed out - free of charge - at various events and locations across
metro Vancouver leading up to and during the Games. To collect these rare
CTV Olympic Pins, viewers must watch CTV NEWS for details as pick-up
locations will be announced the night before the pins are released.
The first pin will be issued on Thursday, February 12. The location
will be announced on Wednesday, February 11 during the CTV NEWS AT 5 and
the CTV NEWS AT 6. The theme of the first pin is the One Year Countdown to
the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Subsequent pins will celebrate
particular sports featured at the Winter Games.

CANADA AM
CANADA AM celebrates the one-year countdown with a week-long focus on
the road to the 2010 Winter Games, including interviews with Olympic
athletes, Olympic Prime Time Host Brian Williams and even travel advice
for people planning to attend the Games. On Thursday, February 12,
beginning at 8:30 a.m. CANADA AM joins CTV NEWS AT 6 anchor Pamela Martin
and Whistler Bureau Chief Sarah Galashan and CTV/2010 reporter Mike
Killeen at BC Place in Vancouver live for the unveiling of the Olympic
Torch.
CTV NEWS SPECIAL PRESENTATION: COUNTDOWN TO 2010
From Monday, February 9 to Sunday, February 15 CTV British Columbia
dedicates a substantial amount of its news coverage to the countdown to
the 2010 Winter Olympics. Brian Williams joins the CTV NEWS AT 6 and
interviews some of Canada's Olympic athletes including speed skater Clara
Hughes and members of the Canadian Olympic Men's Hockey Team. Williams
also speaks with IOC President Jacques Rogge.
On Thursday, February 12 beginning at 5 p.m. CTV NEWS AT 6 anchor Bill
Good hosts two hours of special live Olympic Games coverage, with guest
Brian Williams, celebrating the one-year countdown to the XXI Olympic
Winter Games. Martin and CTV NEWS Weather Specialist Tamara Taggart report
from Whistler where Martin will introduce the province to the young woman
that was chosen to be the first torch bearer, while CTV NEWS AT 5 anchor
Coleen Christie reports live from the Richmond Oval. In addition, Mike
Killeen will be at the Olympic clock, where he will explain what the city
will look like one year from now.
CTV's Olympic Games promotions tent will be on-location in Whistler at
the Village Square from Thursday to Saturday where visitors can take
pictures with their favourite CTV personalities. Visitors to the Richmond
Oval on Saturday and Sunday can sit at the anchor desk where CTV cameras
will record them reporting as guest CTV Sports Anchors.
As the official Canadian broadcaster of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic
Winter Games, CTV will provide 22 hours of Olympic Games coverage per day,
pausing only for local and national news.
CTVOlympics.ca and RDSolympiques.ca are Canada's online destination for
Olympic Games coverage leading up to and during Vancouver 2010. During the
Games, the websites will provide a record 2,400 hours of live competition
with up to 14 concurrent streams from five television networks and all 15
disciplines. The websites will be rolled out in five phases over the next
year, highlighted by a record amount of embedded video, user generated
content, interactive and participatory games, and the best in news and
information. This all culminates in February 2010 with exclusive live
online coverage of every single moment of Olympic Games competition.
