GULLIVER'S TRAVELS, Reunite for Hour-Long TV Movie Event
Santa Monica, Calif., - Oct. 25, 2010 - Nickelodeon favorite and
two-time Kids' Choice Awards host Jack Black reunites with his School of
Rock co-star Miranda Cosgrove in a new hour-long iCarly television movie,
"iStart a Fan War," premiering Friday, Nov. 19, at 8:00 p.m.
(ET/PT). Black stars as "Aspartamay," Spencer's online video
game rival who challenges him to lyrical duel in the Comic-Con-inspired
special. Nickelodeon's iCarly ranks as the number-one live-action series
on television with kids 2-11 and is the network's top show among kids 6-11
and tweens 9-14 year-to-date.
In "iStart a Fan War," Carly and the gang are invited to host
a panel at WebiCon, but the session is derailed when they are put on the
spot by die-hard fans who demand to know whether Freddie is dating Carly
or Sam and the "Creddie" and "Seddie" sides break out
into an all-out fanboy riot. Meanwhile, Spencer earns the adoration of
fellow WebiCon attendees when he arrives impeccably costumed as an avatar
from his favorite medieval-themed online video game. However, Spencer's
euphoria is cut short when he comes face-to-face with his online nemesis,
Aspartamay (Black). Surrounded by an army of costumed WebiCon devotees,
the two competitors launch a fan war like none other featuring their most
impressive "wizard powers" and most biting lyrical warfare in
the form of an operatic battle opus.
"Jack Black is one of the funniest people I know, and it was
wonderful working with him again," said Miranda Cosgrove, star of
iCarly. "He kept the entire cast and crew laughing in between takes
with hilarious riffs of the battle song he sings in the episode."
"I've worked with lots of big stars, and I've never been more
blown away than I was by Jack Black," said Dan Schneider, iCarly
creator and executive producer. "His role was very demanding and he
worked his butt off and was a pleasure every minute. Jack is hilarious and
the consummate professional ? if he ever needs a kidney, he can have one
of mine."
Nickelodeon's multi-platform offerings for "iStart a Fan War"
include special promotional clips on Nick.com and Nick's wireless partners
beginning Oct. 11 and a simulcast of the episode on Nick Mobile. iCarly
will continue its presence in the Nick video-on-demand offering during
November with full episodes from the new season. Following its premiere,
"iStart a Fan War" will be available for purchase in HD on
iTunes, Amazon.com, Sony Playstation and Xbox.
Additionally, beginning Monday, Nov. 15, iCarly.com will feature a
brand-new game, "Tower of Defense," inspired by the fictional
online video game World of Warlords featured in the movie. In "Tower
of Defense," players must protect their fort from being pillaged by
barbarians.
Jack Black will star next in a new contemporary re-imagining of the
classic tale, Gulliver's Travels, which will be released theatrically
nationwide on Dec. 22 from Twentieth Century Fox. In an epic, modern take
on the classic tale, Jack Black is Lemuel Gulliver, a mailroom clerk at a
New York newspaper. After Gulliver bluffs his way into an assignment
writing about the secrets of the Bermuda Triangle, he is hurtled to an
undiscovered land, Lilliput. In this fantastical new world, Gulliver is a
bigger-than-life figure -- in size and ego ? especially after he starts
telling tall tales, taking credit for his world's greatest inventions, and
placing himself at the center of its most historic events. Gulliver's
position is enhanced even further when he leads his new friends in a
daring battle against their longtime enemies. But when Gulliver loses it
all and puts the Lilliputians in peril, he must find a way to undo the
damage. Gulliver only becomes a true giant among men when he learns that
it's how big you are on the inside that counts.
The hit Nickelodeon series iCarly stars Miranda Cosgrove as Carly,
Jennette McCurdy as Sam, Nathan Kress as Freddie, Jerry Trainor as Spencer
and Noah Munck as Gibby iCarly is created and executive produced by Dan
Schneider (Victorious, Zoey 101, Drake & Josh).
