Englewood Cliffs, NJ (April 10, 2006) - NBC Universal Cable (NBCUC)
brings Oscar-winning motion picture "King Kong, " to on demand (VOD)
and pay-per-view (PPV) May 11 with exclusive production diaries, retail
partnership and a sweepstakes providing a trip to New Zealand, where the
film was shot.
"King Kong," this year's three-time Academy Award winner for
Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Visual Effects was directed
by Oscar winning Director, Peter Jackson ("The Lord of the
Rings"), who brings his sweeping cinematic vision to this timeless
story of love and survival. Oscar nominee Naomi Watts stars as Ann Darrow,
a vaudeville actress who finds herself without the means to earn a living.
A chance encounter brings her to meet filmmaker Carl Denham (Jack Black)
who casts her in his latest movie and screenwriter Jack Driscoll (Oscar
winner Adrien Brody). Carl's "moving picture ship" heads out of
New York Harbor where they discover an extraordinary lost world and
encounter Kong, a gigantic, savage gorilla who is unexpectedly smitten
with the leading lady. But it is their mutual empathy and affection that
eventually lead to the beast's tragic downfall.
To promote the film's premiere, NBCUC will offer "Peter Jackson's
King Kong Production Diaries" exclusively to participating cable
operators, which will be made available as a free on demand offering. The
diaries will give viewers a rare glimpse into the creation process of this
larger-than-life motion picture. Additionally, NBCUC will create a
media-rich microsite branded for each affiliates' broadband site. The
microsite will include the production diaries, a downloadable PC game
demo, a game trailer, game screenshots, MP3s, a photo gallery, a
customizable e-card and TV spots that include clips and interviews from
the cast and filmmakers.

Island Adventure Sweepstakes," which offers one lucky winner the
chance to follow in King Kong's footsteps with an all-inclusive trip for
two to New Zealand where "King Kong" was filmed.
