Kindred Media Group Launches Website for “Game 6” Online contest to
collect people’s stories for DVD.
West Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) February 9, 2006 -- Kindred Media Group
announced today it has launched the website designed to promote “Game 6”,
starring Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr. Written by novelist, Don
DeLillo, and directed by Michael Hoffman (“The Emporer’s Club”, “A
Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “Restoration”), the film debuted at the
2005 Sundance Film Festival.
The site, located at www.game6film.com is designed to appeal to the
varying sides of the characters in the film, including theater, novelists,
and baseball fans. The site also hosts a “Where Were You?” contest
which will be supported by additional marketing in the top ten markets
prior to the films release. Users of the site can submit the story of
where they were on the night of Game 6 on October 25, 1996 for a chance to
win tickets for two to the Premiere of the film and mingle with the stars
at the after party in New York on March 9, 2006.
People who submit their stories on the website will be included in a
special thank you section on the DVD when it is released, and selected
submissions will also appear on this website and on the DVD in its
entirety.
The film is set to open in New York and Boston on March 10, 2006, and
then expand to an additional 20 markets the following week.
On the eve of the opening of his latest play, and also the night of the
fateful game six of the 1996 World Series in which his beloved Red Sox
play the Mets, Keaton’s character a successful playwright named Nicky
Rogan is fixated on failure, and the Red Sox are his chosen form of
suffering. Rogan is terrified of the feared critic Steven Schwimmer
(Robert Downey Jr.), and hatches a plot to kill him. If this wasn't
enough, Rogan's lead actor (Harris Yulin) has a mysterious parasite in his
brain that is causing him to forget lines.
The film has received critical praise for its clever story and
compelling acting performances, and has appeared at the Sundance Film
Festival, the Provincetown International Film Festival, and the Nantucket
Film Festival.
Jeffrey D. Erb, President of Kindred Media Group said, “There is such
passion from baseball fans around that single night and that single game,
that to be able to bring people’s stories to a wide audience is
exciting.”
