It's Not You, It's Us: Jetset Studios & 20th Century Fox Create
"Be My Ex" Viral Site in Support of "My Super
Ex-Girlfriend"
Creative Agency Jetset Studios Produces Original Online Short Films For
20th Century Fox
LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 07/19/06 -- Jetset Studios and 20th
Century Fox have teamed up to create the "BE MY EX" viral site,
a companion site for the theatrical release of "My Super
Ex-Girlfriend." Living up to the mantra "Leave Happy,"
Jetset Studios, one of the entertainment industry's most original and
innovative developers of viral media and online marketing campaigns,
produced its first original short film series for the viral website
www.bemyex.com, which focuses on the themes of the hilarious movie
"My Super Ex-Girlfriend," starring Uma Thurman and Luke Wilson
opening nationwide on July 21st. "BE MY EX" is already proving
to be an online hit, garnering site of the week accolades at various
entertainment portals.
In the Ivan Reitman comedy "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," Matt
Saunders (Luke Wilson) thinks he's finally found the perfect girlfriend in
Jenny Johnson (Uma Thurman), who just so happens to be a superhero named
"G-Girl." When Jenny/G-Girl becomes overly possessive, Matt
wants to call it quits -- but how do you break up with a superhero?
Jetset Studios' short film collection -- "Leave Happy: The Right
Way to End a Relationship" -- was produced in collaboration with
Upstairs Film (www.upstairsfilm.com) and is the centerpiece of a viral web
campaign that instructs audiences on the right way to end a relationship
as coached by the experts at the Be My Ex Institute (est. 1956).
The entire Be My Ex campaign was written and produced by Jetset Studios
to promote the upcoming Fox Studios release "My Super
Ex-Girlfriend." After writing the content for bemyex.com and
scripting the accompanying film series, Jetset Studios' Creative Director
Russell Scott turned to Upstairs Film to execute the site's key video
series elements.
Directed by Upstairs Film's Michael Toubassi, the instructional videos
are a send-up of 1950's health films, complete with an era-appropriate
aesthetic and a suitably commanding host, the fictitious Dr. Thorhamer, a
bearded, white-coated, relationship expert. Tongue-in-cheek visual lessons
and comedic case studies illustrate classic warnings signs, relationship
phases and the best methods for a smooth and swift breakup. The series was
shot in 24p using the Panasonic DVX100. The website also features the Will
You Be My Ex? quiz, the Institute's FAQ, as well as the Top 10 Places to
End a Relationship.
Russell Scott, who is also Jetset Studios' Co-Founder, notes: "We
wanted to create an original multi-platform experience that demonstrates
the universal appeal of 'My Super Ex-Girlfriend,' and we are fortunate to
have a highly collaborative relationship with the marketing team at 20th
Century Fox that allows us to creatively run wild."
"As audiences grow increasingly sophisticated, we strive to create
campaigns that work as stand-alone pieces of entertainment," adds
Jetset Studios Co-Founder Patrick Young. "The audience appreciates
this and, as a result, is much more likely to pass it along to their
friends. This kind of pass-along entertainment is the Holy Grail of online
advertising."
In addition to the Be My Ex site, Jetset Studios worked hand-in-hand
with 20th Century Fox to create the official site for the film,
www.mysuperex.com.
