BURBANK, Calif. - March 16, 2006- Gabe Kaplan, the star of the 1970s
ABC television series, "Welcome Back, Kotter," talks about the
big screen remake starring Ice Cube. The interview will air on
"Access Hollywood," Thursday, March 16, 2006 (Log on to
AccessHollywood.com to check local time and station).
In discussing how people would perceive the big screen remake, Kaplan
said, "I think it's totally acceptable. I think that the setting is
going to be in South Central LA. He (Ice Cube) is going to be just like
how I was in Brooklyn...The guys are going to be there in their 2006 and
2007 version, so I think it could work and I think he is the perfect
guy...He has shown what kind of crossover appeal he has."
When asked about his ideal cast, Kaplan joked, "Well I think Snoop
Dogg will play Horshack, Vanilla Ice would play Barbarino...I don't know
we haven't really thought about it."
