Starring Academy Award-Nominated Naomi Watts
There's no going back. Once you've seen it, you're marked till the end
of your time -- which is a whole lot closer than you think! -- when ABC
airs "The Ring" as the "ABC Saturday Movie of the
Week," APRIL 1 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET) (Rebroadcast. OAD: 6/6/05).
Based on the modern Japanese horror classic, "Ringu," Gore
Verbinski now brings you the hair raising American version of the
thriller.
Seven days to live... that's all you're given in the eerie whispered
phone call you receive after viewing a mysterious tape filled with strange
and jarring images. This is what Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts), a young and
ambitious journalist, learns in the course of investigating who or what
frightened her niece to death -- and exactly how. She stumbles upon the
infamous disturbing tape, which she watches and shares with her
ex-husband, Noah (Martin Henderson), and son Aidan (David Dorfman).
Fearing for their now short-sentenced lives, Rachel and Noah race against
time to understand what the images of a frightening little girl, a horse
ranch and a blazing ring all represent, and how they can stop it... that
is, if it can be stopped.
Starring are Naomi Watts ("Le Divorce," "21 Grams")
as Rachel Keller, Martin Henderson ("Torque," "Windtalkers")
as Noah Clay, David Dorfman ("The Texas Chain Massacre,"
"Bounce") as Aidan Keller and Daveigh Chase ("Beethoven
5th," "Stitch! The Movie" [voice]) as Samara.
"The Ring" was directed by Gore Verbinski ("Pirates of
the Caribbean: The curse of the Black Pearl," "The
Mexican"). Writing credits for the novel are given to Koji Suzuki
("Honogurai mizu no soko kara, aka Dark Water," "Ring 2:
Spiral"). Writing credits for the screenplay are given to Ehren
Kruger ("Reindeer Games," "Scream 3").
