Pictures' soaring whirlwind tale of adolescent wizardry, featuring
wizards-in-training Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione Granger
(Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), airs as the "ABC
Saturday Movie of the Week," OCTOBER 21 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the

Based
on the second of J.K. Rowling's phenomenally popular children's novels,
the live action family adventure "Harry Potter and the Chamber of
Secrets" continues the magical saga of a boy who, on his 11th
birthday, learns that he is the orphaned son of two powerful wizards and
possesses unique magical powers of his own. This chapter of Harry's life
finds the young wizard once again trapped in the home of his evil Aunt and
Uncle Dursley (Fiona Shaw and Richard Griffiths).
Though forewarned by the mysterious house-elf Dobby (Toby Jones) that
great danger awaits him if he returns to the Hogwarts School of Wizardry
and Witchcraft, Harry is undaunted, determined to escape the clutches of
the Dursleys -- which he does with the help of his best friend, Ron
Weasley, and a flying car! However, true to Dobby's warning, when they
finally arrive at Hogwarts, they find a community in the grips of a
mysterious and sinister terror that has literally "petrified"
some of its members.
In addition to Daniel
Radcliffe, Emma
Watson and Rupert Grint, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of
Secrets" stars Kenneth Branagh as Gilderoy Lockhart, John Cleese as
Nearly Headless Nick, Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid, Warwick Davis as
Professor Flitwick, Richard Griffiths as Uncle Vernon, Richard Harris as
Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy, Alan Rickman
as Professor Snape, Fiona Shaw as Aunt Petunia, Dame Maggie Smith as
Professor Minerva McGonagall and Julie Walters as Mrs. Weasley.
"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" was directed by
Chris Columbus ("Home Alone" series, "Mrs. Doubtfire"),
with the screenplay by Steve Kloves ("The Wonder Boys,"
"Harry Potter" series), based on the novel by J.K. Rowling. The
