A documentary film that explores the answers and reactions of a large cross section of individuals to the Big Question, which is actually a series of very direct questions regarding their own deeply held beliefs concerning the divine. The majority of these interviews take place on the set of Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ.” Gibson himself, star Jim Caviezel and Monica Bellucci are among those responding on camera to the intimate queries. The filmmakers are careful to include topics relating to everyone: believers, atheists, and agnostics alike, and the interviews encompass a vast cultural, religious, social and even geographical range. The allegorical embodiment of “The Big Question” is a white dog on a dreamlike journey through the mystical southern Italian countryside.
