About The Omen
A case
of the really, really terrible twos….
American diplomat Robert Thorn (Liev Schrieber) is faced with a tragic
dilemma. His wife, Katherine (Julia Stiles), has just endured an arduous
delivery, and their newborn has died. Thorn knows that this will be a crushing
blow for Katherine, who has already suffered two miscarriages. Fate intervenes
in a seemingly benevolent way when the hospital priest presents Thorn with
another child, born that night, whose mother did not survive the delivery. The
priest urges Thorn to take the child to raise as his own, sparing Katherine the
heartbreaking truth.
The
couple names their son Damien (Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick); Katherine never
suspects he is not her own flesh and blood. Things go relatively well until
Damien turns five and his nanny hangs herself at his birthday party. Events
become more and more unsettling. A strange priest brings grim warnings; a trip
to the zoo becomes terrifying; Damien loses control on the way to church; and a
series of photographs foreshadow appalling deaths. Thorn eventually comprehends
that Damien is the prophesied Anti-Christ. Will Thorn be able to make the
ultimate sacrifice in order to save the world from its unspeakable fate?
