About V For Vendetta

Another world war has come and gone, but this time the bad guys have won.  V for Vendetta is set against the backdrop of a fascist Great Britain where individual freedom takes second place to government “protection.”  In this oppressive state, a masked vigilante known only as “V” (Hugo Weaving) conducts terrorist raids against the police.  V is a charismatic leader and skilled guerilla warrior to whom people are naturally drawn.  When he rescues a mild mannered young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) from torture and certain death at the hands of the fascists, she falls under his spell, much to her own surprise.  As she gradually uncovers the truth about V, Evey also discovers truths within herself, and eventually becomes V’s unlikely ally in his quest to bring freedom and justice back to society.  The film is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Alan Moore.
